The Purple Painted Lady® suggests wiping the doors down with Mineral Spirits, especially around the door knob. Be careful not to drip this on your pretty floor! Then do a clear water rinse. Once all is dry- then begin painting. As for using the clear and dark wax- The Purple Painted Lady® included detailed instructions in purchases and we have that same information here on line for you!
